Privacy Policy
Short version: VioHunter uses only publicly available NYC Open Data. We do not collect, store, or sell any personal information. Your lead notes and CRM statuses are stored locally on your device only and never leave your browser.
Who We Are
VioHunter is a lead generation tool for NYC contractors, operated by Mohammad Ishtiyaq. For questions about this policy, contact us at support@viohunter.com.
What Data We Use
VioHunter surfaces violation data from two public datasets maintained by New York City:
- NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) ECB Violations — publicly available at NYC Open Data
- NYC Housing Preservation & Development (HPD) Violations — publicly available at NYC Open Data
- HPD Building Registration Contacts — owner and managing agent data, publicly available from NYC HPD registration records
All data displayed in VioHunter is already public. We do not obtain, process, or store any data beyond what NYC makes publicly available.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information
- We do not require registration or login to use the free tier
- We do not track your searches or save your filter history on our servers
- We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising
- We do not use any third-party analytics (no Google Analytics, no tracking pixels)
Your CRM Data Stays on Your Device
When you mark a lead as "Contacted," "Follow Up," or "Resolved," that information is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. This means:
- Your CRM data never leaves your device
- It is not transmitted to our servers
- It is not accessible to us or any third party
- It will be lost if you clear your browser data or use a different browser or device
We recommend exporting your leads to CSV regularly to preserve your pipeline data.
Filter Preferences
Your filter settings (selected borough, date range, trade category, etc.) are saved in localStorage to restore your preferences on return visits. This data is local only and never transmitted.
Netlify Functions
VioHunter uses Netlify serverless functions as a proxy to NYC Open Data. When you load violation data, your browser makes a request to our Netlify function which in turn queries NYC Open Data. Netlify may log standard request metadata (IP address, timestamp, request path) as part of their infrastructure. See Netlify's Privacy Policy for details.
Third-Party Links
VioHunter provides links to external services including Google Maps, NYC ACRIS property records, and NYC HPD Online. When you click these links, you leave VioHunter and are subject to those services' own privacy policies.
Children's Privacy
VioHunter is a professional tool intended for use by licensed contractors and property professionals. It is not directed at children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be noted with an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
